Customer Project Lead PACA Purpose of the Position The Customer Project Lead PACA accelerates strategic customer opportunities across the Radiology PACA business by identifying unmet needs and resolving the commercial, technical, operational, financial, and access barriers that may prevent Bayer from winning new customers, expanding existing accounts, recovering lost business, or increasing share of wallet. The position supports a regional business of approximately EUR 50 million in annual sales and contributes to an ambition of approximately EUR 3 million in project-influenced incremental sales per year.
This growth is expected to come from new-customer acquisition, account and consumption recovery, portfolio expansion, and improved share of wallet. The ambition represents shared business impact with the KAM and relevant commercial teams; it is not intended to create a parallel account quota or duplicate revenue ownership. Working in close partnership with Key Account Managers, the role transforms complex customer situations into structured commercial projects, develops customer-centered solutions and business cases, and orchestrates the Bayer and external capabilities required to move opportunities from identified need to sustainable execution.
The position manages multiple customer projects concurrently across PACA. It is deployed selectively where additional commercial leadership, technical-commercial problem solving, stakeholder orchestration, or project management can materially improve the probability, speed, or value of commercial success. The Customer Project Lead does not replace the KAM or permanently own the customer relationship. Once a project has achieved the agreed level of commercial and operational maturity, the role executes a structured handover to the KAM and/or appropriate functional owner and reallocates capacity to the next strategic growth opportunity.
Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Opportunity Identification and Qualification Partner with KAMs and PACA commercial leadership to identify opportunities for new-customer acquisition, share-of-wallet expansion, portfolio penetration, recovery of lost accounts, and recovery of declining or lost consumption.
- Assess the customer need, strategic relevance, incremental-sales potential, probability of success, required resources, complexity, risk, and expected time to impact.
- Prioritize opportunities where dedicated project leadership can materially improve commercial outcomes.
- Recommend whether an opportunity should be initiated, accelerated, redesigned, deferred, transferred, or discontinued.
- Customer Discovery and Stakeholder Mapping Lead structured discovery to understand the customer’s clinical, operational, technical, financial, access, procurement, and commercial needs.
- Engage customer executives, radiology leaders, clinical users, procurement, finance, IT, PACS/RIS, biomedical engineering, operations, and other relevant decision makers.
- Map decision makers, economic buyers, influencers, technical stakeholders, sponsors, and potential blockers.
- Translate customer insights into a fact-based problem statement, barrier map, project objective, and measurable success criteria.
- Barrier Resolution Identify and coordinate resolution of commercial, technical, workflow, service, connectivity, access, financial, contractual, implementation, and adoption barriers.
- Ensure that the right problem is defined, the appropriate expert is engaged, responsibilities are clear, and progress is actively managed.
- Translate technical and clinical issues into business implications and convert commercial objectives into actionable technical requirements.
- Escalate unresolved constraints to the appropriate PACA leadership or governance function.
- Customer Solution and Business-Case Development Design integrated customer solutions using the relevant Bayer Radiology portfolio and capabilities, which may include products, injection systems, Clinical Applications, Technical Service, digital solutions, connectivity, workflow optimization, education, analytics, consulting, access support, and external partnerships.
- Develop customer-specific value propositions connected to measurable clinical, operational, financial, and strategic outcomes.
- Build business cases considering incremental revenue, share-of-wallet potential, customer economics, Bayer investment, implementation costs, margin implications, resource requirements, risk, expected return, and scalability.
- Coordinate required feasibility and governance reviews with Medical, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, Quality, Data Privacy, Finance, Pricing, Technical Service, Clinical Applications, and other accountable functions.
- Commercial Project Leadership Lead selected customer projects from qualification through solution development, customer alignment, implementation readiness, stabilization, and handover.
Define project objectives, scope, milestones, workstreams, responsibilities, resources, dependencies, risks, governance, and escalation paths. Manage several projects concurrently across different PACA countries, customers, and stages of maturity. Lead project reviews, drive decisions, resolve roadblocks, and maintain disciplined documentation of commitments, approvals, risks, milestones, and expected commercial outcomes. Keep project activity focused on measurable customer value and incremental business impact. Cross-Functional and External Orchestration Mobilize the Bayer capabilities required to resolve customer barriers and execute the proposed solution.
Coordinate KAMs, Marketing, Clinical Applications, Medical Affairs, Technical Service, Digital/IT/Connectivity, Market Access, Finance, Pricing, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Business Intelligence, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Data Privacy, and regional/global Radiology teams. Coordinate distributors, technology partners, IT integrators, consultants, financing partners, and other external solution providers when required. Lead through influence, shared governance, and clearly assigned accountabilities rather than formal hierarchical authority.
Commercial Conversion and Implementation Readiness Work jointly with the KAM to accelerate customer decision-making and opportunity conversion. Support customer workshops, executive presentations, solution discussions, business-case reviews, tender strategies, competitive positioning, objection management, and negotiation preparation. Confirm implementation requirements, responsibilities, training needs, milestones, dependencies, customer commitments, acceptance criteria, and early-adoption measures. Ensure customer-facing activities and commitments comply with Bayer commercial, medical, legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
Handover, Closure, and Portfolio Reallocation Execute a structured handover when the commercial pathway is established, customer commitments are clear, implementation responsibilities are defined, critical barriers have been resolved or assigned, and the appropriate ongoing owner has accepted responsibility. Transfer project documentation, outstanding actions, risks, success measures, reporting cadence, and customer expectations to the KAM and/or designated steady-state owner. Confirm the ongoing customer point of contact and establish a post-handover review date when appropriate.
Close or transfer active leadership, capture lessons learned and reallocate capacity to the next priority opportunity. Portfolio Management and Regional Replication Maintain a prioritized portfolio of customer growth projects with visibility of project stage, potential value, barriers, next milestone, resources, risks, expected decision timing, and handover readiness. Allocate effort according to commercial potential, strategic relevance, probability of success, urgency, complexity, and time to impact. Document reusable project approaches, customer insights, business cases, and successful solution components. Identify and support replication of validated models across customers, countries, and segments within PACA.
