Job Title: Bread Warehouse WorkerJob DescriptionThis role focuses on order picking and building pallets within a fast-paced warehouse environment. You will work with a pick-to-light system, handle inventory in both ambient and cold areas, and regularly use basic computer systems and RF scanners. The position involves consistent heavy lifting and requires comfort working part of the shift in freezer and cooler conditions.

Responsibilities

• Build and stack pallets up to approximately 15 rows high (around 7 feet), ensuring stability and safe handling.
• Use a pick-to-light system and basic computer applications to locate, pick, and process orders.
• Put away product in designated locations using warehouse systems and RF scanners.
• Tag and label products, pallets, and returns accurately to maintain clear inventory records.
• Perform general warehouse duties including loading, unloading, shipping, and receiving as needed.
• Assist with inventory tasks such as counting, organizing, and tracking stock.
• Support occasional cleaning and janitorial tasks to keep the facility clean and orderly.

Essential Skills

• Ability to lift 2540 lbs consistently for an 8-hour shift, including up to approximately 2 hours per day of heavier lifting as required.
• Recent experience (within the last 3 months) in a role that involved lifting 40 lbs continuously.
• Ability to build and stack pallets up to 15 rows high (around 7 feet) safely and efficiently.
• Basic computer skills for operating warehouse systems and pick-to-light technology.
• Experience with general labor tasks such as loading, unloading, shipping, receiving, and order picking.
• Ability to use RF scanners for inventory and order processing.
• CSA-certified safety boots and a safety vest, and willingness to comply with all safety and dress code requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 6+ months of sit-down forklift experience and power pallet jack operation.
• Valid provincial certification (e.g., AB certification) for sit-down forklifts.
• Experience using PC-based warehouse management systems, including systems similar to PC Data.
• Experience building and wrapping pallets for transport.
• Background in cleaning or janitorial duties within an industrial or warehouse setting.
• Familiarity with general labour roles such as heavy lifting, unloading, loading, and material handling.
• Ability to adapt to changing processes and priorities and to find practical ways to get tasks done.
• Comfort working overnight shifts and maintaining productivity and focus during late hours.

Work EnvironmentYou work in a large third-party logistics warehouse within a fast-paced shipping and receiving department. The team consists of approximately 20 warehouse staff with a mix of skills, including power pallet operators, sit-down forklift operators, and general warehouse workers.

Standard tools and technologies include RF scanners, pick-to-light systems, basic computer applications, and material handling equipment such as sit-down forklifts and power pallet jacks (for those qualified). The shift runs from Saturday to Wednesday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with an 8-hour shift and a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Earbuds are not permitted in the warehouse for safety reasons.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
