Job Title: Construction SuperintendentJob DescriptionThe Construction Superintendent leads all onsite installers and field employees for assigned commercial projects from planning through completion. This role oversees budgeting, scheduling, and contractor coordination while ensuring work meets safety, quality, and efficiency standards. The superintendent manages multiple carpenters across several jobsites, provides hands-on support with tools when needed, and maintains a secure and well-organized construction site.
Responsibilities
- Lead all onsite construction activities for assigned commercial projects from initial planning through final completion.
- Supervise and coordinate installers, carpenters, and field staff across multiple jobsites to ensure work progresses according to schedule and budget.
- Review and interpret construction documents and blueprints to guide daily field operations and ensure work aligns with project specifications.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 5+ years of commercial carpentry experience.
- At least 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and construction documents.
- At least 3+ years of experience managing contractors or field staff on construction projects.
- Knowledge of steel stud framing and metal framing techniques.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on hospitals, hotels, schools, restaurants, and other large commercial buildings.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training is highly beneficial.
- Interest in growing into a Project Manager role over the long term.
This role supports commercial building projects, including hospitals, hotels, schools, restaurants, and large buildings. The superintendent works primarily on active construction sites, overseeing ground-up and commercial projects such as retail and mixed-use developments. The position typically involves working 4050 hours per week and offers year-round employment with consistent work and no layoffs.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kalamazoo, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.45 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
