About this role
Job Title: Quality TechnicianJob DescriptionThis contract Quality Technician role supports a growing Quality organization by owning the day-to-day health, accuracy, and closure of quality-related tickets and processes. You will manage non-conformances, RMAs, and MRB dispositions, while helping to establish and support a new function focused on field and fleet hardware issues. The position centers on rigorous ticket hygiene, efficient Material Review Board (MRB) operations, and smooth handoff of field quality issues into the existing RMA process as Field Quality capabilities mature.
Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day triage, cleanup, and closure of tickets in the Quality Jira project, ensuring timely and accurate handling of all quality issues.
- Ensure all required Jira fields are correctly and completely populated to maintain high-quality data integrity across quality records.
- Maintain and clear the backlog across MRB, QA, and RMA Jira dashboards by closing out stale or completed tickets and flagging aging items for disposition.
- Support the Quality Alert intake process through the Slack channel, Enjo bot, and Jira automation, ensuring that new issues enter the system correctly and efficiently.
- Run daily MRB logistics, including preparing the MRB list, identifying MRB stakeholders and subject-matter experts, and driving prioritization of tickets and products for MRB agendas based on technical impact, safety impact, timelines, product demand, and R&D needs.
- Update Jira records and physical or electronic inventory status to reflect MRB dispositions accurately.
- Execute MRB disposition activities by coordinating with manufacturing for rework work orders, scrap orders, and supplier RMA requests, and directing the physical and electronic movement of non-conforming products within inventory.
- Perform ERP transactions for non-conforming material moved to MRB status to ensure accurate inventory and status tracking.
- Support the Field Quality functions handoff into the Manufacturing Quality RMA process by creating and linking RMA tickets with sufficient triage context, including failure mode, severity, and troubleshooting performed, once root-cause and corrective action cannot be completed in the field.
- Transfer ownership of field-originated issues at the point of MRB disposition to ensure a seamless transition into standard quality processes.
- Help maintain the Field Quality Dashboard to provide clear visibility into field and fleet hardware issues and their status.
- Assist with day-to-day field quality issue processing as ticket volume flows into standard Quality Jira, RMA, and MRB handling, partnering with the Field Quality directly responsible individual and Manufacturing Quality stakeholders on closure-loop tracking back to source tickets.
- Participate in weekly MRB standups and vendor or contract manufacturer meetings tied to field-originated issues to drive timely resolutions and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
- Working proficiency in Jira, including creating and editing tickets, understanding issue linking, and using filters and dashboards across multiple projects.
- Familiarity with MRB, RMA, and non-conformance or NCMR workflows, or a demonstrated willingness to ramp quickly using documented processes.
- Comfort with ERP transaction processing for inventory and MRB status moves.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to ticket data hygiene, with a focus on cleanup and closure rather than only new-ticket creation.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment with Quality Engineers, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, Global Supply Management or Inventory, and Supplier Quality Engineering to keep dispositions and closures moving.
- Prior experience as a Quality Technician in a manufacturing or hardware environment.
- Exposure to root-cause and corrective-action processes such as RCCA, SCAR, and 8D or CAPA.
- Willingness to learn and apply evolving Field Quality frameworks and processes as the function matures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with non-conformance management, including MRB and RMA processes in a manufacturing or hardware context.
- Familiarity with field quality frameworks and structured approaches for tracking and resolving field-originated issues, or openness to quickly learning such frameworks.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple dashboards, ticket queues, and priorities simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with technical and operations stakeholders and to represent quality issues clearly in meetings and standups.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new tools, automations, and workflows as quality processes evolve.
Work EnvironmentThis role operates in a technology-driven manufacturing and hardware environment that relies heavily on digital tools and structured processes. You will work extensively with Jira for ticket and workflow management, Slack and automation tools such as the Enjo bot for alert intake and communication, and an ERP system for inventory and MRB-related transactions. The position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Quality Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, Inventory or Supply Management, and Supplier Quality, as well as participation in weekly MRB standups and vendor or contract manufacturer meetings. Work is primarily focused on managing digital records, dashboards, and process flows, while coordinating closely with manufacturing and inventory teams who handle physical materials and non-conforming products.
