Assistant Accountant (12-Month Maternity Cover)
Birmingham | Up to £32,000 | Hybrid Working Available
NeneBrook Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established and growing construction business based in Birmingham in the recruitment of an Assistant Accountant on a 12-month maternity cover contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to join a friendly and supportive finance team within a fast-paced business, gaining exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities while enjoying the flexibility of hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
- Accruals and prepayments
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
- Processing journals and maintaining the general ledger
- Assisting with month-end and year-end procedures
- VAT returns and statutory reporting support
- Providing financial analysis and reporting to management
- Supporting transactional finance when required
About You
- Previous experience within an Assistant Accountant or similar accounting role
- AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA/CIMA (desirable)
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience within construction, engineering or project-based environments would be advantageous
