Job Summary
You will serve as a SECURITY GUARD in the FORCE PROTECTION DIVISION of NAVBASE CORONADO SEC DET.
Qualifications
GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following
- 1) Authenticating identification for access to restricted areas;
- 2) Regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic to maintain traffic flow and security operations;
- 3) Enforcing security measures required to protect personnel, materials, and property and advising supervisor on crime prevention matters; and
- 4) Performing private and commercial vehicle inspections and package inspections following prescribed procedures to ensure only authorized property is brought into or removed from facilities.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following
- 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access using detection devices;
- 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials;
- 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity;
- 4) Preparing reports of security incidents; and
- 5) Applying knowledge of current regulations and procedures to enforce compliance of all vehicles and persons entering naval installations to include contacting Security Forces when necessary.

Major Duties
- You will authenticate identification by physical examination and through use of electronic Personnel Access Control Systems (ePACS), identification cards, badges, biometric automated tools, verbal questioning, and other means.
- You will regulate pedestrian and vehicular traffic to prevent accidents and to ease congestion and parking problems.
- You will perform foot or vehicle patrols based on post orders of perimeters, roadways, parking, and other high traffic areas as well as storage, administrative and other structures as designated.
