About this role

Purpose of the role

To build and lead United Infrastructure's South East region from the ground up — establishing the company's presence, client relationships, and delivery capability in a market where UI currently has no established foothold, without diverting resource or focus from the existing NGED-region team.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the South East regional strategy, targeting UKPN, SSEN South, and adjacent DNO/IDNO/ICP frameworks
  • Build and lead a right-sized regional team, starting with a lean permanent core and flexing variable capability around confirmed work
  • Own client relationships across the region, acting as the primary UI point of contact for existing and prospective clients
  • Lead business development and bid activity, including positioning for ED3 framework awards, IDNO/ICP contracts, and private network opportunities
  • Secure new confirmed contract value for the region in line with FY28 targets
  • Manage regional P&L, ensuring commercial discipline and margin control as the region scales
  • Ensure all work is delivered safely and in compliance with UI's SHEQ standards and policies
  • Report regularly to the Operations Director on pipeline, delivery, and regional performance
  • Represent UI Group at industry events, client forums, and framework engagements relevant to the South East market

What success looks like

  • A functioning, self-sustaining South East region with its own client base and delivery track record
  • Confirmed new business secured against FY28 targets
  • A regional team built without drawing on NGED-region headcount or management time
  • Strong client relationships that position UI competitively for ED3 and beyond

Person specification

  • Established track record and relationships within the South East power T&D market
  • Experience building or scaling a region, business unit, or client base from a standing start
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills, comfortable owning bid strategy and pricing
  • Credible with clients at senior level; able to represent UI Group externally
  • NEC contract familiarity and understanding of DNO/IDNO/ICP frameworks
  • Self-starting and comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy

Join us at United Infrastructure and be part of our mission to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions to the complex infrastructure needs of the UK.
