Parkersburg Elementary (grades PK-2nd) is located in Parkersburg, Iowa. It is 30 minutes from the Cedar Valley, and is looking for a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered 2nd Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.
Parkersburg Elementary serves around 180 students.
Position Summary
The teacher candidate will teach in our 2nd grade classroom, working in collaboration with the 2nd grade team as needed. The candidate will plan, organize and present instruction to teach students in accordance with required district and state standards. They will create a warm and welcoming classroom environment focused on student engagement, creativity, and inclusion.
Required Qualifications
- Candidates must hold a current State of Iowa Teaching License.
- Bachelor's degree in position related area
- Previous teaching experience preferred
- Endorsement requirement: (one of the following)
- K-6 Teacher Elementary Classroom
- PK-3 Teacher, PK-3 Classroom
Performance Responsibilities:
- Implements best practices and instructional resources to enhance student learning in alignment with state and district standards.
- Evaluates individual and class performance using assessment data to adjust instruction for continuous improvement.
- Maintains documentation and required data to support student progress and compliance.
- Manages classroom structure, procedures, and behavioral expectations to create a positive, safe, and orderly learning environment.
- Models professional and ethical behavior in alignment with district and state standards.
- Demonstrate respect and professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, students, and families.
- Use positive and professional communication in all interactions.
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
- Support District goals and objectives while adhering to all District policies, contributing to the overall success of the school community.
- Demonstrate regular and dependable attendance to ensure smooth District operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
