ABOUT TROLLEY 5
Trolley 5 is one of Calgary's best-known craft breweries, pouring house-made beer from the heart of the
Beltline. Behind our 17th Avenue brewpub, a northeast Calgary production facility makes beer, spirits and
ready-to-drink beverages.
Now we're taking it further, with more shelves, more fridges and more fans across Alberta. We need a
driven, hands-on Retail Sales Manager to make it happen.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the General Manager, you will own our retail sales strategy and results. You will manage our
brewery's packaged-beer and merchandise sales, build and grow relationships with liquor stores and
retail partners, and lead the team that represents our brand to customers every day. This is a role for
someone who loves craft beer, enjoys selling, and wants to help build something.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop and execute a retail sales plan to grow packaged and on-site sales, with clear targets and
reporting
- Build and maintain relationships with existing liquor stores, grocers and independent retailers, and
prospect new accounts across Calgary and Alberta
- Manage retail operations, including merchandising, inventory, pricing, promotions and cash handling
- Recruit, train, schedule and coach retail staff to deliver excellent product knowledge and customer
service
- Work with the production and brewing teams to forecast demand, plan releases and keep inventory in
balance
- Plan tastings, product launches, collaborations and community events that drive foot traffic and brand
loyalty
- Track sales data and market trends, and make recommendations on new products, packaging and
channels
- Ensure compliance with AGLC regulations and all health, safety and responsible-service requirements
WHAT YOU BRING
- 3+ years of experience in retail, alcohol sales, or hospitality, including at least 1 year in a supervisory
or management role
- A track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Strong knowledge of craft beer, or a genuine passion for learning it quickly
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, comfortable with both customers and retail
buyers
- Experience building and leading a motivated sales team
- Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a small team
- Solid organizational and numbers skills: inventory, budgeting and sales reporting
- Valid ProServe certification (or willingness to obtain before your start date)
- Must be 18 or older, and able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as the business requires
- A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation for account visits
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience selling to Alberta liquor retailers or working with AGLC processes
- Familiarity with POS and inventory systems
- Background in brewery, distillery, winery or beverage distribution
- Cicerone or similar beer certification
