Overview
We are seeking a dependable Farm Labourer to support the day-to-day work of a productive farm in poultry and ginseng. This hands-on role involves caring for crops and growing areas, maintaining irrigation systems and tools and daily maintenance of our poultry barns . The work is physical and may take place outdoors in changing weather. Training and direction will be provided for farm-specific tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planting, cultivating, weeding, and harvesting crops.
- Support *irrigation* tasks, including checking lines and helping identify leaks or blockages.
- Perform general *gardening* and groundskeeping, such as preparing beds and maintaining growing areas.
- Use and care for *hand tools* and farm equipment safely.
- Help clean, organize, and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Move supplies, soil, produce, and other materials, including tasks involving *heavy lifting*.
- Follow instructions, farm procedures, and applicable health and safety practices.
- Complete basic measurements, counts, and other tasks requiring *basic math*.
- Develop and guide the behaviour of farm animals
- Disinfect pens, barns or poultry houses
- Handling animals
- Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops
Skills
- Interest or experience in *horticulture*, crop care, or farm work is an asset.
- Familiarity with *irrigation* systems and *gardening* practices is helpful.
- Comfortable using common *hand tools* and willing to learn to operate farm equipment.
- *Mechanical knowledge* is an advantage for basic equipment checks and troubleshooting.
- Able to perform physical work, including standing, bending, and *heavy lifting*, as needed.
- Able to follow directions, work reliably as part of a team, and pay attention to detail.
- Comfortable working outdoors and adapting to changing tasks and weather conditions.
Pay: $17.95 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 ? 50.0 per week
