About this role
Purpose Internship – Surface Engineering for Fingerprint Sensors Every day, fingerprint sensors verify the identity of millions of people at borders, in government facilities, and in security systems. For these systems to work reliably, they must deliver high-quality images for everyone, everywhere, at all times, regardless of skin condition, climate, or sensor wear after thousands of uses. As part of our R&D activities, our team aims to explore and evaluate various technological approaches to improve the performance and durability of future biometric systems. This is the challenge we invite you to take on. You will join our Systems Engineering team to work on an exploratory project at the intersection of physics, materials science, and biometrics. Your findings will help guide the development of our future products.
- You will investigate and evaluate innovative capture surface engineering solutions for contact-based fingerprint sensors, with two main objectives: Make our sensors more robust under real-world operating conditions.
- Improve acquisition quality for all user profiles, including the most challenging cases.
- You will have considerable freedom to explore several solution categories and propose your own ideas.
- Key Missions Responsibilities Conduct a state-of-the-art review of existing solutions.
- Analyze the physical phenomena affecting fingerprint acquisition quality.
- Design and implement experimental test protocols.
- Experimentally evaluate various candidate solutions.
- Measure their impact on biometric image quality, robustness, and maintainability.
- Summarize the findings and formulate recommendations for future developments.
Description longue Your Future Team You will join an R&D team specializing in biometric technologies and secure identity systems. You will work alongside engineers in optics, electronics, mechanics, and image processing, in an environment that encourages experimentation and innovation. This internship offers a high degree of autonomy, combined with close technical support and direct exposure to real-world product development challenges.
