Position Summary
The Below Market Rent (BMR) Program Compliance Specialist oversees day-to-day compliance tasks for an affordable housing portfolio while providing on-site teams with expert guidance on BMR program requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Below Market Rent (BMR) unit certifications, from initial move-in (approving or denying eligibility) to timely annual recertifications.
- Manage all resident recertification communications, including reminders and documentation collection.
- Maintain comprehensive records and update the Affordable Automation Application.
- Collaborate with on-site teams and legal counsel on compliance issues, including lease terminations.
- Support internal partners with lease renewals and offers.
- Submit reporting per city requirements and share updates with key stakeholders.
- Additional Skills: 1 year experience with below market rents and/or affordable housing programs preferred.
- 1 year experience in property management preferred.
- Experience with Salesforce, Realpage/Onesite and Google Suite preferred.
- General understanding of the Affordable Housing Regulatory Agreements and requirements.
- Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) preferred.
