Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: Installation. Various locations. Repair. On-site fabrication. Retrofit.
Tasks
- Manufacture and assemble in the factory the ducts for hot air heating, air conditioning and ventilation.
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Measure and mark sheet metal according to template.
- Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal.
- Cut materials using power tools or by hand.
- Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment.
- Fit and join sheet metal parts.
- Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes.
- Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines.
- Operate hoisting and lifting equipment.
- Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Sheet Metal Worker Trade Certification.
- Specialization or experience: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system.
- Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence.
- Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding.
- Manual dexterity.
- Attention to detail.
- Bending, crouching, kneeling.
- Handling heavy loads.
