Requirements
- Strong background in infrastructure automation
- Excellent Ansible experience, the highest-priority skill area
- Terraform expertise
- Scripting experience with Python, Bash and/or PowerShell
- Experience delivering automation in secure or restricted environments
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
- Desirable: Git or other version control experience
- Desirable: GitLab experience
- Desirable: Rundeck experience
- Desirable: previous experience in air-gapped or offline environments
- Active SC clearance required
- Sole British Nationals only
- Comfortable working without AI-assisted tooling in a secure environment
Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain automation solutions for infrastructure provisioning and configuration
- Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, including reusable modules, state management and best-practice patterns
- Create and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles and automation workflows
- Develop automation tools and scripts using Python, Bash and PowerShell
- Integrate automation solutions with CI/CD and version control processes
- Improve deployment consistency, operational efficiency and environment standardisation
- Troubleshoot and optimise existing automation tools and workflows
- Produce technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Were supporting a growing automation function delivering work across several programmes in a highly secure, air-gapped environment. This is a hands-on infrastructure automation role focused on complex on-premise environments, rather than cloud-native DevOps. The position is based in Farnborough and requires five days onsite due to the nature of the environment. The rate is £550 per day, inside IR35.
