Requirements
- Entry-level role; no commercial or professional experience is required. Graduates, apprentices and career changers are welcome.
- Basic understanding of software engineering fundamentals, gained through study, personal projects or self-learning, including the software development lifecycle, Agile, modularity, abstraction, code reuse, testing, APIs and version control (ideally Git).
- Understanding of relational database concepts, including tables, keys and relationships, and ability to write simple SQL queries; awareness of NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of cloud computing and basic building blocks such as compute, storage and networking; interest in a major cloud platform such as Azure, Google Cloud or AWS. Hands-on experience is a bonus.
- General understanding of containers such as Docker.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, clear written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and willingness to learn quickly in a team.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related subject, or equivalent learning through an apprenticeship, bootcamp, certification or self-directed study.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Desirable, but not required: experience developing with Claude or other Claude-based tools; coding experience in a language such as Elixir, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java or C#; frontend exposure, ideally JavaScript and Vue.js; familiarity with CI/CD, Kubernetes or infrastructure as code; an entry-level cloud certification; or a portfolio, GitHub profile or personal projects.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to designing, building, testing and maintaining software features with guidance from senior engineers.
- Work with databases by writing queries and helping investigate data issues.
- Learn how we deploy and run services on Azure and help with these tasks under supervision.
- Use AI-assisted development tools, including Claude, to explore problems, generate and review code, write tests and produce documentation, while critically checking outputs.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues across applications, data and infrastructure.
- Write clear technical documentation and keep it up to date.
- Participate in code reviews, stand-ups, planning and estimation sessions.
- Learn and apply good engineering practices, including version control, testing, security basics and maintainable design.

Were hiring a Junior Software Engineer to help build, test and run software for Eebz products and clients. Youll join an Engineering team of around seven engineers and receive mentoring from experienced colleagues. The role focuses on engineering fundamentals, databases, cloud infrastructure and modern AI-assisted tools. It is a permanent, full-time position based in Windsor, UK, with a hybrid schedule of three office days per week. Hours are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00. Salary is £26,000–£28,000 depending on experience.
