Requirements
- Excellent communication skills and a strong customer service focus
- Working knowledge of modern computer software and hardware
- Understanding of the Windows Server operating system
- Confidence undertaking physical repairs and modifications to IT hardware, including printers, laptops and workstations
- Access to suitable personal transport to visit sites across the Staffordshire region
- All college-based positions are subject to an enhanced DBS check; we expect staff and volunteers to share our commitment to safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults
Responsibilities
- Provide telephone and electronic helpdesk IT support to staff and students
- Assist with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our computer-based networks, including Windows and Apple Mac operating systems
- Carry out physical repairs to laptops and desktop PCs
- Rebuild, audit and distribute IT equipment to end users
- Help test new software packages and service packs for compatibility and stability before deployment
- Maintain our Mitel VOIP telephony systems and report deviations from the norm
- Configure and maintain the groups CCTV systems
- Install and configure new equipment, including associated cabling and peripheral work
- Work evenings and weekends when required to support special events, such as open evenings and IT exams; we will provide prior notice

We are looking for an IT Technician to join our proactive, dynamic IT Services team and support ICT across our five sites. This is a full-time role based primarily in Newcastle, with a salary of £28,664–£31,318.
