Salary: £58,000 - 98,000 per year
Requirements
- Complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks before starting and be eligible for and willing to undergo UK Security Check (SC) clearance; SC clearance normally requires at least five years UK residency
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Have at least two years of industry experience
- Hold a degree-level qualification or above
- Be fluent in C, C++, and Python, with experience using SQL-based databases
- Bring an analytical mindset and the ability to break down complex problems and develop elegant, efficient code
- Write clean, well-commented code that other developers can follow and build on
- Work collaboratively across hardware, physics, and software disciplines
- Desirable: experience with optical sensors, camera optical frame processing, coordinate systems used in computer vision and robotics, or MLOps
Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust, real-time embedded software in C and C++ for microelectronics, sensors, and other subsystems
- Implement and optimize communication protocols
- Build automated CI/CD pipelines for machine learning, manage model versioning, and monitor live models for data drift and performance degradation
- Develop generative AI and large language model (LLM) systems, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and fine-tuning
- Build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Spark or dbt, ensuring data is high quality, time-stamped, and ready for training and real-time inference
- Design and deploy data collection systems for remote environments, as well as load-balanced staging and production IoT data services
- Maintain and correct records in SQL-based databases
- Run unit, integration, hardware-in-the-loop (HiL), and structured protocol testing to make live deployments fault-tolerant, reliable, and long-lasting
- Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from initial design to efficient, working code
- Align technical solutions with market research and customer requirements
