About this role
Job summary
An exciting opportunity to join the Stroke Unit at Wye Valley NHS Trust on a nine-month, fixed-term, full-time contract.
Hereford Stroke Unit is a 26-bed unit comprising six acute beds and 20 subacute and rehabilitation beds. Patients may stay on the ward for up to six weeks to receive inpatient rehabilitation. The caseload consists predominantly of patients following stroke, however, the successful candidate will also assess and treat patients with general medical and other neurological conditions, including those requiring tracheostomy management.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Physiotherapist with experience in stroke care, confidence in managing patients with respiratory needs, and an interest in working across both the acute and rehabilitation pathways. The successful candidate will have the skills and confidence to support, supervise and develop qualified and non-registered staff.
You will be joining a supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary team that promotes patient-centred care, self-management and collaborative working. There will be opportunities to further develop your clinical assessment and treatment skills, provide clinical leadership to a small team, support the development of colleagues and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
This post would suit an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist looking to progress into a Band 7 role, or an established Band 7 Physiotherapist with a passion for stroke care, rehabilitation and service development.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based in the Acute Hospital working predominantly on the Medical and Respiratory wards whilst providing cross cover for the surgical wards and ITU .
This post may include working with adults and/or children. The Band 7 Therapist will be responsible for and participate in 7 day working and for Physiotherapists (where appropriate) to join the on call rota.
