Job summary

Band 6 Shift Lead-Out of Hours

We are looking to appoint a Band 6 District Nurse into our friendly and supportive team. You must have effective communication and negotiation skills. As an advocate for our patients, you need to have the ability to inspire people at all levels. This post would require that you had an understanding of the expanding role of community nursing and would have the commitment to take it forward. You will need a sound understanding of the current primary care agenda, with excellent communication skills and effective leadership and decision-making skills. You will need to be innovative and able to work autonomously whilst promoting a positive and supportive learning environment for team members and students. This would be an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills in supporting the team leader.

Main duties of the job

You will have excellent communication skills, time management skills with the ability to prioritise and problem solve.You will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills by having responsibility for the supervision of junior staff and students.

This is a 7-day service including bank holidays and weekends.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Education Essential

First level Registered Nurse Evidence of continual professional development

Desirable

Nurse Prescriber Degree in District Nursing or equivalent (Specialist practitioner qualification in District Nursing)

Knowledge and Training Essential

Demonstrate knowledge of research based practice Post registration experience to include: Evidence of mentoring Project working Specialist training Management and development of others Good background knowledge of issues within the primary care arena

Desirable

Have knowledge of major NHS issues Knowledge around stock requisition and IB Solutions system

Experience Essential

Evidence of being able to work as part of a team Evidence of working to and achieving defined objectives Evidence of knowledge relating to caseload management and leadership/provision of support to others

Desirable

Show ability to adapt to change Show evidence of care planning using a Nurse Model Demonstrate an awareness of current community nursing issues Demonstrate a pro-active approach

Communication & Relationship Skills Essential

Must be able to commute to meet the demands of the role Ability to develop working relationships with other professionals
