Job Title: JanitorJob DescriptionThe Janitor maintains clean, safe, and orderly conditions in work areas, washrooms, and other spaces within office, commercial, or similar facilities. This role covers a wide range of cleaning and basic maintenance tasks to support a hygienic and well-presented environment. The regular schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain working areas, washrooms, and other assigned premises in an orderly condition.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and polish floors to ensure they are clean and presentable.
• Remove chips, trash, and other refuse from work areas and restrooms, and dispose of waste properly.
• Dust equipment, furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces on a regular basis.
• Polish metal fixtures, trimmings, and other surfaces to maintain a neat appearance.
• Provide and restock cleaning supplies and restroom supplies as needed.
• Perform minor maintenance services related to cleanliness and basic facility upkeep.
• Clean lavatories, showers, and restrooms thoroughly and regularly.
• Operate floor care equipment such as floor buffers and waxing machines for floor stripping, waxing, and maintenance.
• Inspect floors and other surfaces to identify areas requiring additional cleaning or maintenance.
• Load and unload cleaning equipment and supplies from company vehicles safely.
• Climb and carry ladders as needed to perform cleaning tasks at various heights.
• Travel by company automobile to assigned work locations when required.
• Maintain safe work practices and contribute to a safe work environment at all times.
• Work independently or with minimal supervision while completing assigned tasks.
• Interact with others in a diplomatic and positive manner when working around staff or building occupants.
• Perform other related janitorial and custodial duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• 12 years of janitorial, custodial, or general cleaning experience, or equivalent training.
• Ability to read and write English to understand instructions, safety information, and documentation.
• Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to successfully complete a criminal history background check.
• Experience with general cleaning and janitorial duties in office, commercial, or industrial environments.
• Proficiency in floor care, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing floors.
• Ability to operate floor care equipment such as floor buffers and waxing machines.
• Capability to perform floor stripping, waxing, and ongoing floor maintenance.
• Physical ability to continually bend, squat, kneel, lift, twist, climb, reach, stand, and walk during an 8-hour shift.
• Ability to use hands for repetitive pushing, pulling, and single grasp motions.
• Capability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds and move objects in excess of 100 pounds.
• Ability to load and unload trucks safely and handle cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Capacity to work alone or with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality.
• Ability to maintain consistently high output and quality in a high-volume work environment.
• Strong attention to safety and adherence to safe work practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in industrial or commercial janitorial environments.
• background in custodial work, general labor, or facility cleaning.
• Familiarity with floor inspection to identify wear, damage, or areas needing additional care.
• Comfort working with various types of flooring and finishes.
• Ability to communicate in a positive and diplomatic manner with building occupants and team members.

The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., with an expectation of high-volume, day-in and day-out productivity over an 8-hour shift. The work is physically demanding and requires continual bending, squatting, kneeling, lifting, twisting, climbing, reaching, standing, and walking. You frequently use your hands for repetitive pushing, pulling, and grasping motions and regularly lift and carry objects up to 60 pounds, with occasional movement of objects over 100 pounds.

You may need to load and unload trucks, climb and carry ladders, and travel by company automobile to different work locations. The environment emphasizes safe work practices, proper use of cleaning chemicals and floor care equipment such as buffers and waxing machines, and maintaining a clean, orderly, and professional appearance in the facilities.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Millington, TN.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.25 - $19.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
