AVL-AST D.O.O. offers a job in Croatia (HR) as Simulation Engineer (m/f/d) - Vehicle Dynamics for Off-Road & Defense Applications
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
We're looking for an experienced simulation engineer to develop and maintain vehicle dynamics simulation models for off-road and defense vehicle platforms. You'll create and validate Vehicle dynamics and tire-soil interaction models, support Driver-in-the-Loop testing, and correlate simulation results with physical test data to deliver objective engineering solutions.
YOUR PROFILE
Education & Background
- University degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
- Self-driven, structured working style with strong problem-solving skills Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics fundamentals (lateral, longitudinal, and vertical dynamics)
- Understanding of offroad vehicle architectures (suspension, drivetrain, steering systems)
- Experience with tire-soil interaction modeling (e.g., Bekker, FTire on soft soil) is considered a plus Specialized Skills
- Experience with AVL VSM or comparable vehicle dynamics simulation tools (e.g., Adams Car, CarMaker, VI-Grade)
- Proficient in data analysis and scripting (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Python)
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar)
- Familiarity or interest in Driver-in-the-Loop simulation environments and real-time model requirements Soft Skills
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Team player with good communication skills in a cross-functional, international environment
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for testing campaigns and customer workshops Key Requirements

- Experience with AVL VSM or comparable simulation tools
- Scripting & data analysis skills (MATLAB/Python)
