About this role
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Building Services Technician (Handyman) to join the Facilities team at John Flynn Private Hospital on a full-time basis.
This role is responsible for completing a range of handyman, building maintenance and general facilities works across the hospital. You’ll help ensure our buildings, facilities and surrounding areas are maintained to a high standard, supporting a safe, functional and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.
About You
You are a practical and reliable maintenance professional who enjoys a varied, hands-on role. You’ll have strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to maintenance and the ability to work effectively in a busy healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete general handyman and building maintenance works across the hospital
- Carry out repairs and maintenance to walls, doors, fixtures, fittings and other building elements
- Undertake minor patching, painting and general repair works
- Respond to maintenance requests and complete jobs in a timely manner
- Assist with preventative maintenance activities across the hospital
- Identify and report building, maintenance or safety issues
- Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe and organised manner
- Work in accordance with workplace health and safety and infection prevention requirements
- Communicate effectively with hospital departments, staff and contractors
- Support the wider Facilities team with general maintenance tasks as required
You Will Also Bring
- Previous experience in building maintenance, handyman services, facilities maintenance or a similar role
- Practical skills across general building repairs and maintenance
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to prioritise tasks and respond to maintenance requests
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A reliable, proactive and flexible approach to work
- Commitment to workplace health and safety
- Previous experience working in a healthcare or hospital environment will be highly regarded
Remuneration
On offer is a base hourly rate of $30.59 + superannuation, exclusive of penalties and allowances (QLD Support Services Level 2, Year 1).
