About this role
We are now looking for a Development Engineer to join our team in Gothenburg. This is a key role within our global R&D organization, where you will lead technical development projects, drive innovation, and mentor junior engineers.
Your Responsibilities
As a Development Engineer, you will:
- Lead complex development projects delivering new and innovative filler metals for ESAB globally.
- Drive product enhancement initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
- Conduct advanced research and investigations to build knowledge and support future product development.
- Approve raw materials and suppliers, ensuring alignment with technical and quality standards.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, production instructions, and control procedures.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Sourcing, Quality, Approvals, and Production Engineering teams.
- Act as a technical mentor and support the development of junior engineers within the team.
Your Profile
We believe you have:
- A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in product development or research within welding, steel, or inorganic process industries.
- Proven experience in project leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong analytical skills and a strategic mindset.
- Excellent communication skills in English (Swedish is meritorious).
- Experience with statistical tools such as Design of Experiments (DoE) and Multivariate Data Analysis (MVDA) (e.g., MODDE, SIMCA).
- Experience with big data and LLM and machine learning.
- An interest in driving a sustainable transformation of a large industrial company.
- An IWE diploma is meriting.
