About this role
Abilene Middle School is seeking a 7th Grade Assistant Boys Basketball Coach for the upcoming 2026–2027 season (December - February).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching and reinforcing the fundamental skills, strategies, and rules of basketball.
- Supporting individual player development and team improvement.
- Collaborating with the 7th grade head coach, 8th grade coaching staff, high school and youth coaches to promote consistency, shared terminology, and alignment throughout the program.
- Assisting in planning and implementing structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Building positive relationships with student athletes and communicating effectively with players, parents, and coaching staff.
- Supporting the head coach in establishing expectations, developing team culture, and managing daily program responsibilities.
- Demonstrating a commitment to building a cohesive, development-focused boys basketball program aligned from grades 3–12.
- Modeling and reinforcing Abilene's core values of Commitment, Effort, and Teamwork in all aspects of the program.
- Being a positive, collaborative team member who is committed to contributing to and strengthening the Abilene Boys Basketball program.
