Media Center Paraprofessional- Media Center Paraprofessionals supplement the instructional process within or outside of an instructional, educational setting, under the direction of the Library/Media Specialist. The typical responsibilities include but are not restricted to the following:
- Schedules use of specialized equipment, technology, programs and materials
- Works with students and faculty in utilizing media and technology resources.
- Works with students relative to curriculum tasks and assignments as directed by professional staff.
- Locates, processes, maintains, repairs, and circulates media collections.
- Keeps the professional staff informed of materials available to enhance and supplement their instruction.
- Performs first line routine maintenance on all equipment. Schedules service and arranges for repairs, as directed.
- Interacts with administration, teaching staff and students to develop innovative practices for the Media Center. The Media Center Paraprofessional should have a working knowledge of computers, current media technology and catalog/filing protocol. The individual shall also possess qualities of character and experience as determined by the Board of Education.
- Other duties as assigned in the 7.5 hour workday.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat to work with students and to shelve books and meet requirements of maintaining the medial center space.
- Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors, if as requested.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Associate Degree or 60 hours, or passed the ETS Test
- Successful experience working with students
- Successful record of strong organization, communication, and leadership skills
Salary Data: $18.54 - $19.06 based on education and related experience as a paraprofessional or teacher.
