Springwell Leeds is a one of a kind, multi-site, city-wide specialist provision for children with SEMH needs. The post of Deputy Care Team Leader is a key post in leading and coordinating behaviour, attendance and safeguarding systems on site. You would be working closely with students, parents, staff and outside agencies on a daily basis and will need to be able to form excellent, trusting relationships with our SEMH students and their families.

As well as supporting the day-to-day leadership of pastoral wellbeing, the role involves supporting student behaviour, and modelling expert practice for the staff team. A key focus of this role will be supporting the wellbeing and emotional development of key groups of young people.

Deputy Care Team Leader - Key Responsibilities

Support the Care Team Leader in coordinating day-to-day pastoral and welfare support for pupils

Act as a safeguarding lead or deputy safeguarding lead in line with school policies and statutory guidance

Monitor student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and emotional needs, escalating concerns where appropriate

Provide direct support to pupils experiencing emotional, social, or behavioural difficulties

Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure joined-up care

Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, and individual support strategies

Supervise and mentor care team staff, offering guidance and feedback as required

Lead the care team in the absence of the Care Team Leader

Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with GDPR and safeguarding requirements

Support the implementation of behaviour management and positive intervention strategies

Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment

Assist with staff training related to safeguarding, mental health, and student wellbeing

Participate in multi-agency meetings and case reviews when required

Uphold school policies, values, and statutory responsibilities at all times

This role involves deputising for Care Team Leaders across the site, and is part of our succession planning strategy, so is best suited to an aspiring CTL.

You will lead interventions with key groups of students and support the overall strategy planning of pastoral support in key areas of the school.
