About this role
In this varied role, you will work in a professional metal machining environment, manufacturing and finishing metal parts and components. You will work with various materials and ensure that each workpiece is produced accurately in accordance with technical drawings, dimensions and specified requirements. You will independently set up and operate conventional lathes and milling machines, paying close attention to detail and quality. You will be responsible for correctly securing and aligning workpieces and carrying out operations such as turning, milling, drilling, tapping and various finishing processes.
You will also read and interpret technical drawings and carefully check dimensions, tolerances and surface quality during and after the production process using a range of measuring instruments. Accuracy and craftsmanship are central to this role. You will work in accordance with the applicable work, quality and safety regulations and contribute to a clean, safe and well-organised workplace. Daily maintenance and cleaning of the machines are also part of your responsibilities.As a conventional turner/miller, you will have the opportunity to apply and further develop your technical knowledge and experience. You will work on high-quality products where precision, quality and craftsmanship are paramount.
