About this role

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a range of addition needs, including autism (ASD) and helping them to achieve their full potential in our nurturing learning provision.

The successful candidate will have prior experience working with pupils who require additional support and will play a key role in adapting learning activities, promoting independence and providing tailored one-to-one and small group support.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School’s intention for SEND provision is to ensure that every child receives a high-quality and ambitious education, regardless of their learning needs or disabilities. Our school also places great importance on collaboration with parents, carers and external agencies.

Our school prides itself on our strong team ethos and our exciting immersive curriculum. We are a one-form entry primary school in the Nechells area of Birmingham.

The successful applicant will

Have a firm commitment to the Catholic Ethos of the school;Be an excellent Teaching Assistant with an ability to raise the attainment of all childrenBe energetic and highly motivated Teaching Assistant, with SEND EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2 experience;Ideally have experience or training in alternative communication methods such as Makaton or PECS - or be eager and willing to learn;Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and can demonstrate effective teamwork/collaboration as part of a close hard working team;Have experience of, or a strong interest in, working with pupils with a range of additional needs.Be adaptable, proactive and patient, with a calm and positive approach to challenges.Demonstrate a caring and nurturing attitude, creating a safe and supportive learning environmentBe open to assisting with personal care when required, ensuring the highest standards of respect and dignity.Have the ability to form positive relationships with children, parents, staff and external agencies;Be committed to keeping our children safe;Be fully involved in the wider life of the school.We will offer you
