Job summary
Oaklands centre for acute care is a acute mental health unit in Chichester, West Sussex offering person-centred, therapeutic and holistic care to the adults of working age with mental health problems.
Oaklands ward is an open acute mental health ward. with 16 mixed gender beds for people of working age.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for individuals with genuine interest in Mental Health who are motivated, dynamic and forward thinking to work at Oaklands ward as a Healthcare Assistant. Applicants need to be enthusiastic with a non-judgmental approach and a caring attitude. People with good communication skills and a sense of humour who enjoy working as part of a team are required to provide the best possible care in a changing and challenging environment. Applicants need to be committed to maintaining and improving service user centred care to the highest standards. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an ability to demonstrate good communication skills and team working abilities. In return you will benefit from working in a therapeutic environment conducive to the treatment and recovery of people with acute functional mental health problems. All your skills and life experience will be fully utilised and developed through clinical supervision and training opportunities.

We currently work a Long Day shift pattern on the ward, this includes weekends and night shifts.

Qualifications Essential
Good general education NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience
Knowledge/Experience Essential
Experience of working with mental health needs in a paid or voluntary capacity Experience of working collaboratively i.e. with colleagues, wider teams, service users etc An understanding of confidentiality
