The Senior Digital and Communications Officer plays a key role in delivering high-quality, engaging communications that support Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust's strategic priorities, reputation and values.
The post holder will lead on the day-to-day delivery of the Trust's digital and social media communications, while also contributing across the full communications mix, including internal communications, campaigns, content creation, media support and stakeholder engagement.This is a senior operational role requiring strong judgement, creativity and the ability to work autonomously. The post holder will provide specialist digital expertise, act as a trusted advisor to colleagues across the organisation, and ensure communications are timely, accurate, accessible and audience-focused.
Main duties of the job
Lead the operational management of the Trust's social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Nextdoor and emerging platforms. Develop, plan and deliver engaging digital content, including social posts, short-form video, graphics and photography, aligned to Trust priorities. Monitor, moderate and respond to social media activity where appropriate, escalating issues in line with Trust protocols. Use insight and analytics to evaluate performance of digital channels, report on impact and recommend improvements. Ensure digital communications support campaigns, service changes and operational priorities, working closely with communications managers. Provide expert advice to colleagues across the Trust on effective and appropriate use of digital and social media. Create clear, engaging content for internal and external audiences, including staff bulletins, website content, intranet updates and campaign materials. Lead on filming and photography projects as required, using in-house equipment or working with external suppliers. Translate complex or sensitive information into accessible, human-focused communications. Ensure all content reflects Trust values, brand guidelines and accessibility standards.
