About this role

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who would like to be part of a team of Care Co-ordinators helping to support our patients in receiving the appropriate care. New Horizons Medical Partnership is a very friendly and supportive environment and we are looking for someone to act as the first point of contact and representative for the practice either by telephone or face to face joining the team on a part time basis for 28.5 hours per week 8am - 6.30pm Tuesday, Thursday & Friday.

New Horizons Medical Partnership is a two-site partnership with a practice circulation of circa 23,500 patients.

Job description Job responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the reception team are varied and will differ from time to time under the direction of the Reception Manager / Lead Clinical Practitioner / Partners / Practice Manager, dependant on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels.

Maintain patient confidentiality at all timesTo answer telephone and deal with queries appropriatelyTo book appointments for patients according to practice policiesTo deal with all prescription requests according to practice policiesTo register new patients according to practice registration protocolTo extract patient records when requiredTo order transport when requiredTo take and record all patient visit requests according to practice policiesTo liaise with patients regarding their requests for Doctors to complete NHS or non-NHS documentationTo take and record all messages according to practice policiesTo liaise with all other members of the primary care team as appropriateTo carry out administrative tasks within any department as requiredTo carry out/cover any other tasks suitable for the grade

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Ability to work independently and as part of a large team. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt to service needs whilst working in a busy environment. Must be willing and have ability to extend role if required. Appropriate training to be agreed and provided by the practice. Must be able to work within the rules governing patient confidentiality.

Desirable

Experience in working within the NHS, Experience in working in a busy reception environment.
