An exciting opportunity for a permanent position has arisen for a passionate Senior Nurse to work within the Gynaecology Outpatients services.

This post will offer the successful candidate excellent personal and professional development opportunities in management and leadership. As well as being a proactive, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual you will need to demonstrate excellent communication and prioritisation skills. A dedication to working collaboratively and sharing your clinical expertise is essential.

You will need to be able to lead by example, motivating and demonstrating crucial team player involvement and promoting excellent communication skills, within the nursing team. You will also be expected to deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence.

The post holder will be expected to oversee clinics ran at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and our Apley Clinic.

Main duties of the job

oTo function as a competent clinical practitioner within their designated clinical area.oTo deliver direct patient care whilst, co-ordinating and overseeing nursing/theatre practice.oTo be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty.oTo ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver optimum quality care to their client group.oTo deputise for the ward/ department manager in his / her absence, driving forward evidence-based practice and taking responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area.oTo work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

RGN Evidence of Continuing Professional development/ qualification relevant to area of speciality

Experience and Knowledge Essential

Extensive post registration experience in the relevant speciality or equivalent High level clinical skills and knowledge Evidence of successfully co-ordinating, managing and leading the team on a day to day basis. Teaching ability Experience in undertaking preceptor/mentor role

Desirable

Involvement in Nursing audit and Research An awareness and understanding of policy and practice relevant to speciality

Skills and Ability Essential

Microsoft office PC, Care/ Patient flow
