Main duties of the job

Clinical ResponsibilitiesProvide highquality general medical care to registered patients, including:Facetoface, telephone, and online consultationsDiagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditionsUndertake routine and urgent clinical appointments in line with the agreed sessionsManage and review clinical correspondence, pathology results, and reportsPrescribe safely and costeffectively in accordance with local and national guidelinesOnCall / Duty Doctor Responsibility (Essential Requirement)Act as the oncall / duty GP for one day per week (or on a rota basis)Responsibilities typically include:Managing sameday urgent clinical requestsProviding clinical advice and supervision to the wider clinical teamReviewing and triaging urgent results and clinical messagesSupporting the safe management of unplanned patient demand

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Full GMC registration with a licence to practise Inclusion on the NHS England GP Performers List Commitment to CPD, annual appraisal, and revalidation Willingness to comply with all practice policies and procedures. Experience of providing comprehensive general medical services in an NHS setting Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients, including those with complex health and social needs Experience of managing acute presentations and long-term conditions in primary care Experience of contributing to on call-duty GP cover and managing same day demand

Desirable

Sound knowledge of NICE guidance, QOF requirements, and NHS clinical governance Understanding of safeguarding adults and children and professional responsibilities Knowledge of confidentiality, data protection, and information governance requirements

Qualifications Essential

Primary medical qualification (MBBS, MBChB or equivalent) Certification of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice or equivalent recognised training (e.g. GP Register via CESR) Inclusion on the GMC GP Register Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC), with a licence to practise Inclusion on the NHS England GP Performers List
