Main duties of the job

What we're looking for:

We're seeking a motivated Pharmacy Technician who is excited to broaden their experience within mental health and learning disability services.

You will need to be:

An Accredited Medicines Management Technician and Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) - or working towards these Qualified with a BTEC / NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent) Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) We are passionate about developing our staff and will support you to continue growing in your role.

What youll be doing:

Supporting our dispensary with the ordering, receiving, dispensing, and checking of medication for wards and departments Travelling to a variety of wards and units across Hertfordshire Conducting medicines reconciliations to ensure safe and effective care Assessing patients own drugs and transcribing for supply Providing clear and compassionate counselling to patients about their medicines Getting involved in pharmacy-related audits, stock reviews, and service development

Person Specification

Qualifications/Education/Training Essential

BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent (or evidence of working towards it) To be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician

Desirable

Accreditation in Medicines Management (or evidence of working towards it) Accreditation in Accuracy Checking (or evidence of working towards it) Practice educational supervisor qualification (or willing to work towards)

Experience Essential

Experience of working as a member of a team IT skills (including Microsoft Office) Experience of working as a member of a multidisciplinary team Experience of working to deadlines Experience of working within Standard Operating Procedures Experience in working in dispensary

Desirable

Experience of training and managing staff Experience working in hospital setting Experience in working in Mental Health EMIS (Ascribe) Pharmacy Dispensing System

Skills Essential

Ability to read/write in English language Able to work under pressure accurately within departmental SOPs to maintain quality standards Good communication skills (written and verbal) Developed physical skills in dispensing, preparing, and checking of medicines involving a high level of accuracy Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload on own initiative and be accountable for actions Good time management, organisation, and prioritisation skills Methodical with attention to detail Basic word processing and spreadsheet skills

Desirable

Able to apply theory to practical work Ability to appraise performance and identify training needs

EMIS (Ascribe) Pharmacy Dispensing System Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) systems
