Job summary
We are looking for an organised and proactive HR & Timetable Assistant to join our busy and friendly GP practice.
This is a key administrative role supporting both HR processes and staff rota coordination across a large multidisciplinary team. Working closely with and assisting our HR Lead and Rota Administrator as part of a small team, you will help ensure safe staffing levels and smooth day-to-day operations for a practice serving approximately 27,000 patients.
Main duties of the job
To assist with maintaining accurate staff records and support HR administration Assist with recruitment, onboarding and staff inductions Monitor training, compliance and absence records To assist and provide cover for the management of our rotas for clinical and non-clinical staff To assist with coordinating annual leave and arrange cover where needed To Assist with Identifying rota gaps and liaising with managers to resolve them Provide general administrative support to the management team

Job description Job responsibilities
The HR and Timetable Assistant will support the delivery of efficient and effective human resources and administrative services, including maintaining accurate employee records and contributing to day-to-day HR administration.
The role involves supporting recruitment processes, onboarding, staff inductions, assisting in monitoring training requirements, compliance, and absence records. The postholder will also support rota management for both clinical and non-clinical staff, helping to organise annual leave, identify and resolve staffing gaps in liaison with managers and ensure appropriate cover is in place. In addition, the role provides general administrative support to the wider management team to help ensure smooth operational delivery.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Has strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail Is confident using IT systems (e.g. Microsoft Office) Can manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Communicates effectively with a wide range of staff Works well as part of a small, collaborative team Handles confidential information with discretion
Desirable
Experience in a GP practice, NHS, or healthcare setting Knowledge of SystmOne, or rota systems Previous HR or scheduling experience
