About this role

Job summary

The RNOH currently has a Senior Clinical Fellow post in Hip & Knee surgery available. The post is for 12 months fixed term from September 2026. Applicants should have completed core surgical training and have experience in elective orthopaedics, and ideally an interest in hip and knee arthroplasty surgery.

The position will provide exposure to all aspects of the management of patients requiring primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty and complex limb reconstruction. The applicant will be expected to deliver high quality care, as well as participate in the research and audit activities of the unit.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will be expected to become integrated members of the team involved in the day-to-day care of patients on the wards, outpatient clinics and theatres. There is an-call commitment.

The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in research and provide evidence at the end of their attachment of a peer-reviewed clinical publication or international presentation. There will also be ample opportunity to be involved with quality improvement projects and audit, including robotic surgery and day case arthroplasty.

The role involves managing in-patients and out-patients, supporting junior members of the team and assisting in theatre.

Qualitfications Essential

MRCS GMC registration

Desirable

Higher degree

Experience Essential

Completion of Core surgical training with a sub-speciality interest in Trauma and Orthopaedics NHS experience

Desirable

Exposure to elective outpatients Previous publications in PUBMED indexed journals Previous experience in clinical governance and quality improvement Experience in supporting junior colleagues and education Trauma and Orthopaedic Registrar level experience.

Skills and Knowledge Essential

Strong self-motivation and organisational skills Excellent communication and facilitation skills A good level of computer literacy

Desirable

Able to work effectively within a team environment and on own initiative IT skills including excel and basic data analysis
