About this role

Job summary

The ILDS Therapies Service Manager will lead, develop and manage the Integrated Learning Disabilities Therapies Service, provide effective leadership and positive role modelling to support meeting service and individual outcomes whilst reducing barriers to living a fulfilling life. As such, the role demands developed and specialist knowledge of therapies and the learning disabilities client group.

As the Clinical Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Service Manager, the role will lead and manage a number of clinical Team Leaders across the Therapies Teams and work closely with a range of partners to ensure best practice and innovative service delivery for individuals with learning disabilities, and their families, in Enfield. The role will also require close working with Providers to impart expert knowledge, advice and guidance in developing services for the learning disabilities community and their families.

This is a key leadership role within the ILDS Service to drive and support teams to deliver outcomes, responsibilities and remain a high performing service. The role will lead all therapies related issues with the integrated service and play a significant part in the overall development and leadership of the service.

Main duties of the job

1. To provide AHPs leadership and professional management within EILDS and Therapy teams (Occupational Therapy, Art, Speech & Language and Physiotherapy), ensuring high quality therapies services are delivered to Enfield Learning Disabilities population.

2 To share responsibility and accountability for the Enfield Integrated Learning Disabilities Service as member of the management team, taking a lead on designated areas as appropriate

To support and deputise for the ILDS head of Service in the day to day running of the service. To act as an expert advisor and practitioner in Adult Learning Disabilities offering differential diagnoses, providing highly specialist advice and intervention for a client group with complex physical, social, mental health and cognitive disabilities. To support the Head of Service in setting the strategic direction of the service, taking into account local and national priorities and ensuring corporate objectives are addressed within the local service business plans. To provide leadership in meeting the service objectives and driving improvements for the Therapies Teams in ensuring the best possible outcomes for clients and their families and staff teams. To lead and manage a comprehensive program of review, report on performance targets and quality improvement plans. Establish, maintain and develop effective communications with the ILDS and wider organisations as required.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Registration with the HCPC as an AHP Degree/post graduate diploma/Msc in occupational therapy, speech, and language therapy or another appropriate AHP profession. Advanced theoretical & practical knowledge Professional knowledge acquired through degree, supplemented by specialist training to doctorate or equivalent level, management qualification or equivalent, experience A management qualification or a commitment to undertaking training

Ability to communication complex condition related information to service users, carers and colleagues Lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practices including policies and strategies. Ability to act as lead specialist AHP for the clinical area, provide a high level of specialist advice in complex situations Ability to use Trust/ LA IT systems including e-mail, finance systems, virtual platforms, performance databases and electronic clinical records Ability to manage delegated budgets Able to engage and involve service users and their carers in service planning and delivery. Ability to be able to deal with conflicting demands Ability to apply quality improvement methodology to improve services. Ability to influence, negotiate and persuade regarding complex or sensitive issues

Experience Essential

Extensive experience as a qualified AHP working with clients learning disabilities and mental health problems and/or challenging behaviors 3-5 years' experience of working with people with a Learning Disability at a management level. Demonstrable experience of managing services within health/social care including service delivery, quality, performance and staff. Experience of multidisciplinary working Experience in managing a clinical area related to the post Substantial experience of managing and motivating staff and delivering high quality results
