You will work in a service that delivers evidence-based, individualised treatment programmes designed to meet each young person’s unique needs.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Medical Lead, you will play a central role in driving clinical excellence and ensuring the service continues to deliver safe, effective, compassionate care.

Provide strategic leadership, ensuring consistent, highquality standards of care and fidelity to our clinical model. Champion a positive, recoveryfocused and traumainformed culture, influencing practice across the unit. Represent the medical team at governance meetings, service development discussions, and external stakeholder forums. Oversee medical input into audits, QI projects and service evaluations, ensuring learning and improvement are embedded in everyday practice. Offer professional leadership, supervision, and support to Consultant Psychiatrists and Associate Specialists within the service. Coordinate medical cover, ensuring safe, effective clinical staffing across the unit. Lead medical workforce processes, including recruitment, induction and appraisal. As a CYPMHS Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be required to:

Review referrals and determine appropriateness for admission Conduct Admission assessment and ensure effective management plans To participate in the assessment and management of children and young people referred to the Service To conduct risk assessment and review regularly To assess physical health To provide leadership, supervision, reflection, and risk management to the key workers on the team To abide by, and contribute to, the governance arrangements and processes of the service. This includes providing a culturally competent practice, appropriate record keeping, and discharging duties under the safeguarding children agenda. To supervise non-training grade doctors and psychiatric trainees allocated to the teams. To enact cross cover arrangements for annual, study and professional leave, with the other child and adolescent psychiatrists in the department. Participation in the CYPMHS Consultant on-call duty rota. To participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists An interest in research and a willingness to supervise trainees will be encouraged. To establish effective working relationships with GPs, CYPMHS community teams, specialists and commissioners. To uphold the principles of Clinical Governance and adhere to the organisation’s clinical governance requirements. To take part in an Annual Appraisal Programme, with the development of Personal Development Plans, focused on Continuing Professional Development. To adhere to all the organisations policies and procedures. To be successful in this role, you will need:

Qualifications Essential

Registered on the GMC Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a licence to practise. Experience of CYPMHS Eating Disorders.
