Main duties of the job As a Maintenance Assistant at Castleholme Lodge, Huddersfield, you will be the main responsible person for all maintenance aspects ensuring buildings, facilities, and equipment are maintained and fit for purpose. You will utilize strong DIY and practical skills to maintain the safety and comfort of service users. Your duties will include planning, conducting, and documenting regular safety checks, audits, and maintenance schedules. You will lead on the repair, maintenance, and decorating of all buildings within Castleholme Lodge. You will liaise and report directly to the Manager on all faults, defects, and maintenance plans, and coordinate, supervise, and support all contractors on-site. The role demands proven maintenance experience, preferably with supervisory responsibilities, and compliance with health and safety systems. You are expected to work independently and as part of a team, showing courtesy and respect to residents and colleagues, ensuring the highest quality of service. Training and staff meetings attendance is also required.

As a Maintenance Assistant you will be:

Leading on the repair, maintenance, and decorating of all buildings within Castleholme lodge Liaising with and reporting directly to the Manager on all faults, defects, and maintenance plans. Coordinating, supervising, and supporting all contractors whilst on site, completing all necessary paperwork and tool checks. To be successful in this role, you will: Have proven experience within a maintenance role, preferably with some supervisory or lead responsibility. Comply with and support with overseeing all health & safety systems and procedures. Work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team. Show courtesy and respect to residents and colleagues at all times to ensure the highest quality of service. Attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings. Be proactive, organised, and able to prioritise a varied workload. Support with driving tasks and oversight of staff inductions for the company vehicles. To be successful in this role, you will:

Castleholme Lodge is a mixed Gender 20 bed Care Home with nursing, providing a range of mental health services for adults with severe and enduring mental health difficulties. Have proven experience within a maintenance role, preferably with some supervisory or lead responsibility.
