Step into a key administrative role at the heart of our Oncology Department, where your work will directly contribute to delivering exceptional patient care. As the central point of coordination, you will provide a high-quality, efficient administrative service that keeps the department running smoothly and supports both patients and clinical teams.
You will work closely with a wide range of professionals, liaising confidently with the multi-disciplinary team, internal departments and external agencies to ensure seamless communication and continuity of care. Main duties of the job
Join our busy, high-performing administrative team and play a vital role in keeping our clinical services running smoothly and efficiently. You'll independently prioritise your workload, ensuring tasks are completed within agreed timescales while responding promptly and professionally to both telephone and face-to-face enquiries. As the first point of contact for many patients and clinicians, your communication skills will help create a seamless and supportive experience for everyone you assist.
You will manage a wide range of administrative responsibilities, including handling correspondence in a timely manner and maintaining accurate, up-to-date Electronic Patient Records in line with Trust policies. You'll work confidently with the DIT3 system to check and print letters, as well as scan and process confidential information with the highest level of accuracy and discretion.
Strong, effective communication is central to this role, and you'll liaise daily with consultants, GPs, patients and wider clinical teams to make sure information is shared quickly and clearly. With your attention to detail and commitment to high standards, you will help ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of patient services.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
AMSPAR Level 3 Medical secretary diploma or equivalent RSA Typewriting level 3 or equivalent GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
Desirable
NVQ level 3 Business administration and/or Customer Care
Experience Essential
Proven experience of working as a secretary in a busy environment Experience of Careflow/ACP/ICE/DIT3 Previous NHS experience
Desirable
Digitial Dictation and/or voice recognition Proof reading skills
Other Essential
Strong written communication skills
