Due to the expansion of our Critical Care services and bed capacity we are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our senior nursing team for Critical Care at BHRUT. This is an opportunity to help shape the direction of one of the largest ITU facilities in North East London.

You will join a large multi-site Critical Care Service providing care across the Queen's Hospital and King George Sites, including a specialist Neuro Intensive Care Unit, emergency and elective surgical patient pathways and with line management for the Critical Care Outreach Service. Under the guidance of the head of nursing for critical care, you will work closely with the senior team of critical care matrons providing operational support as well as assisting in the strategic direction of an essential service.

The role is a mixture of clinical and managerial responsibilities with a strong focus on delivering first class care that is safe and of high quality. This role incorporates both the day to day delivery of services as well as the strategic delivery of a sustainable and efficient service, whilst fostering a safe working environment where nursing teams can grow and flourish.

Main duties of the job

The Matron holds 24- hour responsibility for ensuring the day-to-day running of nursing within BHRUT Critical Care.

This will include:o delivering safe, efficient, and effective patient careo providing professional leadership to all nursing staffo line managing designated staffo meeting key quality and performance indicatorso taking forward and achieving service improvementso meeting financial plans

The postholder will provide professional and management leadership to all nursing staff within BHRUT Critical Care. The Matron will work across organisational boundaries to achieve the Trust's objectives, and to deliver relevant local, regional and national standards and strategies. In conjunction with key stakeholders the postholder will lead and develop the Critical Care across both sites with anticipated increase in bed numbers and complexity.

To enable cohesive and collaborative working the you will rotate across the units within the service on an annual basis as well as support the service with bed and staffing coordination when required.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualifications Essential

Adult Registered Nurse Degree in related field (critical care) MSc in relevant subject (evidence of working towards)

Experience/ Knowledge Essential

Nursing Leadership experience at a senior level Demonstrable successful management of patient flow.

Skills/ Abilities Essential

Excellent interpersonal communication skills
