Job summary

Healthcare Assistants

Wards 20, 21 and 24

Band 2/3: £25,272 - £27,476 per annum( pro rata if part time)

If you do not have an NHS care certificate you would start at a band 2 and be supported within the first 6 months to achieve this at which time you will move to band 3.

Hours: various hours available including fixed term and permanent roles.

All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

Under the supervision of Registered staff, the role of the Senior Healthcare Assistant is to undertake delegated clinical care duties, assist the nursing team and support Healthcare Assistants in the delivery of safe effective care to the patient.

The surgery division at MKUH, which covers specialties including theatres and the Intensive Care Unit, offers a variety of roles and opportunities, both clinical and non-clinical. The division are looking for passionate, enthusiastic and forward-thinking professionals to join the team.

MKUH is one of the leading hospitals in Europe for implementing robotics to assist in surgery, becoming the first in the continent to use the CMR Versius robot for gynaecological surgery. Since its introduction in 2019, the theatres team have completed over 500 surgical cases, the first hospital in the UK to reach this milestone, achieving this in March 2023.

As well as being an innovator in robotics, the Trust is proud to be part of the New Hospital Programme, with plans to expand and increase our surgical capacity to meet the health needs of our communities now and in the future.

Ward 20, 21 and 24 .We have 4 permanent and 2 maternity cover vacancies available within the surgery division.The surgical division covers both emergency and elective surgery, the individual wards are categorisedWard 20 emergency surgery with speciality in emergency colorectal surgeryWard 21a elective orthopaedic (joint replacement and spinal surgery)Ward 21b emergency gynaecology (including early pregnancy), urology and surgeryWard 24 elective surgery including gynaecology, colorectal, ENT and Urology

The candidate will ideally have experience within a healthcare setting; training will be given for individual areas specialism through study days and clinical supervision. The ability to be adaptive to changing situations both emotionally and physically is essential to this role. The candidate will be able to work effectively as part of the ward team and wider surgical division with the ability to work independently when required. They will be work alongside qualified staff escalating concerns as appropriate and support students and medical staff alike. Qualifications and knowledge Essential
