This is an opportunity for a junior clinical fellow to join the team in ICU at Hammersmith Hospital, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, providing resident cover.Initiallyposts will be offered for6 monthsbut may be extended to1 yearby agreement and depending on satisfactory performanceand vacancies.We would like to offer rotations to other sites as vacancies allow.The ICUtrust doctorwould be expected to join theresidentgrade tier of doctors who provide cover for theunit.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join a team of 14 Residents (SHOs) and up to 14 Middle Grade (Registrars) colleagues. When on duty for ICU the resident will review and manage patients on the ICU under the supervision of the registrar or consultant.
We will also be appointing to one junior clinical fellow role with an interest in research as part of this interview process. This is an exciting opportunity for an anaesthetic or ICM speciality doctor or trainee with a strong interest in research in ICM, to join the team at Hammersmith Hospital ICU & actively participate in the research & academic activities of the department. The post would suit speciality doctors at senior clinical fellow level, wishing to obtain or further existing experience in research. The post affords supervision, competencies & dedicated research time commensurate with the requirements for special skills training in academic research for ICM training.
The department participates in numerous NIHR portfolio trials and studies. Research interests include basic, translational & clinical research pertaining to ARDS, sepsis and multi-organ failure including acute kidney injury. It is anticipated that research output from this post will be suitable for national &/or international presentation & publication in peer reviewed journals. Overall responsibility & supervision for the post will be from Dr Sanooj Soni, Consultant in ICM.

Duties and responsibilities
Clinical Responsibility for the day-to-day management of all patients on ICU West / GICU in conjunction with the Intensive Care registrar and consultant. A full ward round with the MDT is held each morning and a secondary clinical round every evening, including holidays and weekends Administrative and governance consistent with the clinical activities of the post. The post holder will be required to participate in the departments and wider directorates clinical governance activities. Education Active participation in the postgraduate education programme which is open to and regularly attended by the entire MDT working on ICU West. Expectation of progress and development in special interest. Research / Quality Improvement / Non-clinical interest Opportunities to be discussed with the educational supervisor after appointment. Research special interest posts will be expected to meet productivity metrics as set out by the supervisor.
