About this role

Job summary

As the consultant forensic psychiatrist and Responsible Clinician, you will be responsible for providing assessment of and treatment to the patients under your care, and for providing leadership to the ward clinical team.

Avebury Ward is a newly-created 17-bedded men's low secure admissions/rehabilitation ward within the low secure unit of West London Forensic Service, typically accepting patients for admission from prisons, community recall and PICUs, as well as occasionally step-down transfers from the medium secure wards on site.

This is an excellent opportunity for the postholder to join a large forensic psychiatric service and to contribute to the assessment and management of patients with complex risk issues and treatment needs.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will lead the clinical team in assessing and treating patients with complex forensic needs, including those progressing through the criminal justice system; and will also provide clinical leadership more widely within the men's low secure service.

The post includes participation on the WLFS forensic on-call rota.
