Job summary
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife to lead the Infant Feeding Team at the Barnet maternity site. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting staff and driving high-quality care for the families we serve.
Although the post is primarily based at Barnet, there may be occasions when support is required at the Royal Free site.
The post require an enthusiastic, committed midwife to join our established dynamic and forward thinking maternity team.
The midwife will be a highly motivated practitioner with a vision to lead on Infant Feeding within the maternity unit including quality issues and be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of these..
The post holder will be part of a team of highly trained, dedicated midwives with excellent organisational and communication skills.
The midwife must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, be a caring and compassionate individual focused on providing excellent quality care, working within the values held by Royal Free London NHS Trust.
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust became a new enlarged organisation We now consist of the Royal Free Hospital, Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital and North Middlesex hospitals.
Main duties of the job
o Provide clinical and managerial leadership in the midwifery defined area or team
o Co-ordinate the team to provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal services to women within clinical area/geographical boundary
o Provide skilled clinical advice and professional leadership to the midwifery team/defined area, liaising with the multidisciplinary team
oWorking with line managers, act as a key player in leading change in practice, providing high quality maternity care within the available resources
o Carry out risk assessments in the hospital, birth centres and community settings and safely manage obstetric and neonatal emergencies including emergency situations when medical help is not available.
o Lead on the management of sickness absence and team performance within own area/defined team.
o Be responsible for leading cohesive working and communication practices amongst own team and wider multi-disciplinary team.
