An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Medicine Division in West Hertfordshire NHS Trust based at Watford General Hospital. We are looking for Medical Secretary/Pathway Navigator for 37.5 hours per week.
We are looking for a proactive, forward thinking, highly motivated, enthusiastic individual, who will be compassionate and proactive, working with consultants, nursing, management and colleagues to co-ordinate waiting lists, book outpatient appointments ensuring the patient pathway is protected by providing secure, timely and appropriate arrangements in accordance with Trust pathways.
The successful applicant will need to have a good general level of education with formal secretarial qualifications, with medical terminology knowledge and possess the essential qualifications outlined in the attached Person Specification.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide medical secretarial support to one or more stroke/care of the elderly consultants and will be required to cross cover in colleagues' absence.

To provide a professional and welcoming first point of contact for our patients.To deal with telephone enquiries from GPs, patients and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner to ensure that appropriate messages are passed onto the relevant people in a timely fashion. To communicate highly sensitive information to patients / consultants. To ensure and maintain the efficient and effective administration of stroke & care of the elderly clinics, cancelling and amending clinic lists following instruction from the clinicians, ASM and ADM. RTT tracking and validating.
