Job summary Consultant - Haematology Permanent post 10 PA's
We have an exciting opportunity to welcome a full-time Consultant into the Haematology team and the successful applicants will join our expanding team of motivated Consultants.
Candidates with a CCT or CESR in Haematology are encouraged to apply. Those working towards the CESR qualification who already have experience working at consultant level are encouraged to contact the department to discuss other options. We can also accept applicants who are within 6 months of achieving a CCT in General Medicine.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide comprehensive clinical haematology services across outpatient clinics, day-case activity, inpatient referrals, laboratory liaison, and participation in multidisciplinary meetings. They will jointly manage patients admitted under shared care arrangements and contribute to departmental audit, ongoing research, and quality improvement initiatives. The role includes providing senior clinical decision-making, contributing to service development, and ensuring continuity of care during periods of colleague absence, particularly within day-case activity
The post-holder will hold ultimate responsibility for the clinical management of patients with malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions, including oversight of chemotherapy, diagnostic pathways, anticoagulation governance, and inpatient referrals. They will ensure care is evidence-based, safe, and aligned with national standards, with specific responsibility for supporting the delivery of more than 3,500 outpatient attendances and approximately 900 chemotherapy treatments per year. They will also supervise junior staff in the clinical management of patients, support early identification and escalation of deteriorating patients, and ensure high-quality continuity of care across the service.
