The Reception / Administration Clerk is responsible for providing efficient, professional front-line reception and administrative support within the GP practice. The role ensures patients are greeted and managed appropriately, appointments and enquiries are handled effectively, and clinical and administrative processes are supported in line with NHS and practice procedures.
Main duties of the job Key ResponsibilitiesReception Duties
Greet and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner
Manage incoming telephone calls, triage and direct enquiries appropriately
Book, amend, and cancel appointments using the clinical system
Signpost patients to appropriate services following practice protocols
Handle patient queries in person, by telephone
Maintain a calm and efficient reception environment
Administrative Duties
Process, scan, and file clinical correspondence accurately and promptly
Manage incoming/outgoing mail, emails, and practice communications
Support clinicians and management with administrative tasks as required
About us
The practice operates across multiple sites, providing primary care services to a diverse patient population. As a multi-site GP practice, we work as one integrated team, ensuring consistent standards of care, communication, and administration across all locations.
The clinical team is led by five GP partners, who hold overall responsibility for the delivery of services, clinical governance, and strategic development of the practice. They are supported by a wider multidisciplinary team, including salaried GPs, nursing staff, and administrative and reception teams.
