Job summary Would you like to work in dynamic, ethnically diverse, NHS community paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Team who prioritise training and supervision?

Our Speech and Language Therapy Team situated in the London Borough of Redbridge have an exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join us on a full-time basis to lead on our Early Years Pathway. We are a well-established service serving a diverse community. The post will ideally suit an established band 7 speech and language therapist looking for a new challenge or a band 6 therapist wishing to develop their skills and progress to a band 7 role.

Main duties of the job Working as part of the team you will provide a service for children aged 0-4 years, presenting with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties within community clinics and early years settings.

You will be leading the team alongside another band 7 speech and language therapist to develop the early years service, share management responsibilities and the caseload.

Main duties of the job

In the Early Years Pathway you will:

Lead on the Speech and Language Therapy Early Years Pathway in Redbridge. Deliver highly specialist assessment and intervention for preschool children with speech, language and communication needs. Provide specialist supervision and support for junior colleagues. Contribute to the effective delivery and development of the service. Actively develop and nurture close, coproductive working relationships with families and partner professionals across health, education and Early Years Support Services.

Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London (B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest, CEME) This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time).

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent and HCPC registration

Experience Essential

Experience working as a Speech and Language therapist with pre-school children with speech language and communication difficulties, including those with Autism.
