About this role

Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a permanent part-time (0.8 WTE) static Band 7 Physiotherapist or a Band 6 Physiotherapist seeking progression to join our Trauma and Orthopaedics outpatient service.

As part of the established job plan, the appointed candidate will be expected to work on Mondays in line with service needs with the remaining hours being allocated between 08.00.17.00 Tues-Fri with flexible working patterns being considered.

Main duties of the job

To be an effective member of the Trauma Orthopaedic out-patient service, providing a high standard of clinical care within the Virtual Fracture Clinics, Out-patient fracture clinics and Physiotherapy departments (across sites).

The aim of Virtual Fracture Clinic (VFC) is to manage the flow of patients in a timely way from attendance at the Emergency Department or Primary Care to Fracture Clinic (Right Clinician, right time frame). Following the VFC there is a telephone clinic for all patients that do not need to attend for a face-to-face appointment. This telephone clinic will be one of the main roles.

You will also have the opportunity to work as part of the MDT OPD Fracture clinics.

There will be allocated time within the Physiotherapy department for treating an acute case load and developing your rehabilitation skills for trauma patients.

To contribute to the training and supervision of the Physiotherapy staff within our team and the wider Therapies department.

To help maintain active links and effective communication between Trauma and Orthopaedics and the Physiotherapy departments, all sites.

Service development/Audit/Research opportunities within out-patient Trauma and Orthopaedics.

As part of this team you will have the opportunity/exposure to a wide range of learning opportunities and the experience of the MDT, including all the sub-speciality fracture clinics and other speciality clinics such as Shoulder Instability, Achilles, Soft tissue Knee. The opportunity to attend Trauma theatres, radiology, Trauma ward rounds.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

B.S.c Hons in Physiotherapy or Grad. Diploma in physiotherapy Current registration with Health Professions Council (HCPC) Documented evidence of CPD

Desirable

Attended clinical supervisors course Relevant introductory course in management skills

Experience Essential

Extensive experience at Band 6 level in all specialist palliative care areas : Inpatient, outreach and ambulatory Experience in supervision and training of qualified staff, assistants and students Substantial clinical experience in NHS UK health service

Involvement in audit/research

Knowledge Essential

Evidence of service development and implementing change Evidence of post registration training in relevant up to date specialist palliative care treatments Able to work well with others and pass on skills and knowledge Demonstrates an ability to respond effectively to complex, emotional or challenging situation
